FAQs
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
It’s a great question—and one many people ask when they’re thinking about reaching out. The truth is, therapy isn’t just for moments of crisis. It can be a space for growth, reflection, healing, and simply having someone to talk to who really listens.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or just curious about understanding yourself better, therapy might be a good fit. You don’t need to have all the answers or a specific “reason” to begin—just a willingness to explore what’s going on for you, with support and compassion along the way.
Starting therapy is a personal step, and it takes courage. If something inside you is wondering if it could help, that’s often a sign it’s worth exploring.
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first therapy session is really about getting to know each other and creating a safe, supportive space for you to share at your own pace. There’s no pressure to dive into everything right away—this is your time, and you get to decide what feels comfortable to talk about.
We’ll spend some time exploring what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and any questions or concerns you might have. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how we might work together and see if it feels like a good fit. Think of it as the beginning of a conversation—one grounded in empathy, curiosity, and care.
It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous, uncertain, or even emotional. That’s okay. You’re not expected to have it all figured out. Just showing up is a meaningful and brave first step.
What if I don’t feel like we are the right fit after the first session?
That’s completely okay. Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal process, and it’s important that you feel safe, seen, and supported in the space we create together. The therapeutic relationship plays a big role in how helpful therapy can be—so if something doesn’t feel quite right, you’re always encouraged to share that.
You won’t hurt my feelings by being honest. In fact, part of my role is to help you find the support that feels right for you, even if that means referring you to someone else. Your comfort and well-being matter most, and you deserve a therapist who feels like a good match for your needs and personality.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes, I do accept insurance, and I completely understand how important it is to find support that works for you—both emotionally and financially. I’m currently in-network with the following insurance providers: Aetna, Anthem/BCBS, CareSource Marketplace, United Healthcare, Community Health Direct, Encore, First Health, Galaxy Health, Lutheran Preferred, Multi-Plan, PHCS, Sagamore, SIHO, Stratose, and USA MCO Group Health.
If you're not sure about your coverage or how to use your benefits, we can talk through the details together. I know navigating insurance can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I’m here to help make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
What age group do you typically support in your practice?
I currently work with adult individuals and adult couples who are seeking support, growth, and healing in their lives and relationships. My practice is focused on the unique experiences and challenges that come with adulthood, and I tailor my approach to meet clients in those spaces with care and intention.
At this time, I don’t work with children, adolescents, or families—but I’m always happy to help connect you with a trusted referral if that’s the kind of support you’re looking for. Everyone deserves to find the right fit for their needs, and I’m here to help however I can.
Are you an ally to the LGBTQ+ community?
Yes, absolutely. I am a proud ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and I believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported in all areas of life, including therapy. My goal is to create an inclusive, affirming space where people of all identities can explore their experiences without fear of judgment. Whether you’re navigating your gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other part of your journey, I’m here to listen, support, and help you move forward with compassion and understanding.
Are you a religious counselor?
While I’m not a religious counselor, I deeply respect the role that faith and spirituality can play in a person’s life and healing journey. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and openness, and I’m always here to honor and explore the beliefs and values that are meaningful to you—whether they’re spiritual, religious, or otherwise.
If your faith is an important part of your identity or your support system, we can absolutely incorporate that into our work together in a way that feels authentic and supportive for you.
Do you offer virtual counseling?
Yes, I do offer virtual counseling. I understand that life can be busy, unpredictable, or sometimes just a little overwhelming—and accessing support from the comfort and privacy of your own space can make a meaningful difference.
Whether you're juggling a full schedule, living in a remote area, or simply feel more at ease at home, virtual sessions are a flexible and effective way to receive care. I use a secure, confidential platform to ensure your privacy, and I strive to create the same sense of connection and support as you’d find in person.
What is your self-pay rate for a session?
My self-pay rate is $200 for the initial intake session and $175 for each session after that. I know that investing in therapy can be a significant commitment—emotionally, mentally, and financially—and I want to be as supportive and flexible as possible.
For clients who need a more cost-effective option, I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need. If that’s something you’d like to explore, I’m more than happy to have a conversation to see what might be workable for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes things come up that make it hard to keep an appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice so that I can offer the time to someone else who may be waiting.
For late cancellations or missed appointments without notice, there is a $75 fee. I don’t take this lightly—I know things happen, and my intention is never to add stress. This policy simply helps me honor the time I’ve set aside for you and keep the practice running smoothly for everyone.
What are your regular office hours?
I am typically in office to provide in-person and virtual sessions during the following hours:
Monday: 1pm - 7pm
Tuesday: 12pm - 6pm
Thursday: 1pm - 7pm
Friday: 10am - 4pm
Also, please note that the office suite where I'm located closes and automatically locks at 5pm, and the main doors to the building automatically lock at 6pm. If you schedule a 5pm or 6pm session, run late, and subsequently get locked out of either the office suite or the building, please contact me, and I will come up to the front lobby area and let you inside.
